Soul Food Board Engraving Time Lapse

Cutting the Soul Food Board. Here’s a time lapse of the process on the Shapeoko. It goes quick so stay vigilant! I put double sided tape down and use a template to try to avoid putting tape where the bit is going to sit through. Then I zero the bit so it knows where to cut. I run the engraved part—the Afro, pic, earrings, and our website. Then I change the bit for one that will cut out the shape, zero that so it knows how deep to cut, and cut it out. My dust collection is not quite strong enough to pick up all the sawdust, so I stand by to clean out a couple tricky spots so the bit doesn’t get stuck and ruin the piece (this has happened to me!). Then I pry the board up and remove the tape. And Done! Custom Sailboat Pyrography

A custom wooden cutting board made from teak and maple, with hand-drawn pyrography of a sailboat catamaran and salmon. Shows time lapses of the wood burning, and video of finishing it with Walrus Oil.

Afro Pick Board Being Created

A custom cutting board in the shape of an Afro Pick by Tazboards. Made with walnut and maple for the picks and jatoba for the handle. Power fist and peace sign shapes cut with a Shapeoko CNC router. Peace sign filled in with clear epoxy by Artresin. Wood burned by hand to the specifications of the customer, “West Family.”
